Analysis of Pop Videos 1

The first video that I am going to be analysing is 'LFMAO - Party Rock Anthem'.

SOUND:

This video has had a lot of attention all over the world it is mainly to do with the vocalist and the instrumental. In 2011 there has been a change of music and most people are into dance track currently, 'Party Rock Anthem' is a perfect example of a dance track. This is  because it has a fast tempo instrumental that people can dance to and also catchy lyrics which is the reason everyone likes the song so much because there isn't anything to not like.

PERFORMANCE:

This video has a NON-STOP entertainment factor. I say this because of various reason one throughout the whole video there is dancing taking place and secondly there is a storyline for the artist to follow as well which also adds to the performance.

This is the story line from the begging of the video and as you can see the artist are performing right from the start which helps reduce viewer fatigue.

I think that it has worked extremely well and also it shows that it has the conventions of a pop video because in most videos of today they either have a story line somewhere in Video or they have people dancing because that is what most of the pop music consumers listen to.

CINEMATOGRAPHY:

Most of the shots used in this video is either  very long shot, long shot or a mid shot. This is for the simple reason that if it wasn't then they wouldn't be able to successfully show the dancing of the people in the video. The reason why people need to see the dancing is so that they know that you can dance to this song and so they know how to dance to it.

MISE EN SCENE:

This video is a lively, jumpy and bright kinda of video. This are all the thing is needed to be to get people to watch and want to dance to the actual video. As you can see they have some outrageous costumes a lot with shiny materials however the colour of the costumes are spread over a variety of colours I think this is to add to the madness of the video. Even though the video is bright it is also dark at the same time because they could have filmed out of the shadows but I think they do that because the people dancing are mean to to be zombies in a sense so they may have done that to add to the zombies effect.

EDITING:

Since this is a dancing video the editing had to be short and sharp this is for various reasons. One of the reason is so that the editing itself can help to add to the madness and chaos of the video by doing short sharp cutting between shots. Secondly is to prevent viewer fatigue throughout the video, this enables someone to sit there and just watch the video without getting bored once and want to switch it off. This is common with video people who edit video make sure that the editing is done short and sharp and no more than three seconds on a shot depending on the type of shot it is.
