Analysis of Pop Videos 2

The second video that I am going to Analise is 'Jennifer Lopez - On The Floor ft. Pitbull'.





CINEMATOGRAPHY:

The cinematography in the video is not typicalof other music video because there is a lot of Mid shot and even though it is a dance track, they do not need to show the people dancing because the video is shot on a dance club so the MISE EN SCENE in the video also help the viewer know that you can dance to this song. There is also a lot of close ups of the artist themselves especially in this video because of Jennifer Lopez, she is a very admirable women and some people may just be watching the video for her so the have a close up to clearly show her face.

MISE EN SCENE:

This video is relatively dark for a music video. However i think that this is to add to dance club affect because no one has ever been in a club that is bright so the dark mise en scene helps the audience realise that it is a club and this is also another little way of  letting the audience know you can dance to this song.

SOUND:

This song has a very distinct party sounds, it has the typical high tempo beat and catchy lyrics that draws the people of 2011 to the songs and make them like it also in this case the song has a feature on it from 'Pitbull'. Jennifer and Pitbull are two different artists so the fact that they are on one track together the are helping promote each other and bringing both of their fans to this one song, and the plan is for Jennifers fans to become Pitbull's fans also vice versa.

EDITING:

There is typical editing in video, just short sharp cuts through different shots and it is edited in a linear fashion also because it starts at one place in the video and ends up in a different part towards the end of the video. This is also another technique that is used to help and reduce viewer fatigue, in this case i think that they done the best that they could with it because of the setting of the video.



PERFORMANCE:

The performance of the artist is very good in this video. However the two artist are very different in their performing I say this because Jennifer Lopez is dancing throughout the video but this is because of the type of music she does she is a singer and for singers to dance in music videos are expected. However Pitbull is a rapper and to be a rapper you have to up hold a certain image to earn respect from the people listening to their music, so for Pitbull to do a routines would be out of the question he can perform in other ways.
