Analysis of Pop Videos 3

The third video that I am going to Analise is 'Jessie J - Who's Laughing Now'.

MISE EN SCENE:

The mise en scene in the video is very good and matches the type of song it is this is because it is taking about a girls bad memories and how she was an outcast but has made it now. They choose to shoot the video in a school which I think made sense because from the memories of a little girl. It is very colourful throughout also this takes people back to when they were in school or lets people relate to it which is also a form of reducing viewer fatigue.

CINEMATOGRAPHY:

In this video there is a Large variety of shots throughout the video this is because of the type of video it is you can mix and match the shot and everything will still go together nicely. Since The video has a wide range of shots throughout it is another typical way of reducing viewer fatigue.

EDITING:

Editing is a big part of this video since it has such a wide range for imagination. Firstly this video has the typical Short sharp cuts between shots, However it has so much more. This is because there is a story going on throughout the video so the people who edited the video incorporated eye line match, Match on action an various other media techniques to make this video a short film in a sense. It also has cut away's to fill in random gaps in the video.

SOUND:

This particular song is a very rebellious type of  song, unlike the other songs I have analysed this is not a dance track so the beat and lyrics are much different. On this song it is more about the  voice of the artist who is singing it to get the attention of the people and hopefully make them like it.

PERFORMANCE:

This video is a very unique video for the fact that the person who sings it is not the main attraction of the video there has been an actor that was hired to do most of the performing and 'Jessie J' is just  taking the part of several characters throughout the video. However she does do some lip syncing but only at certain parts of the video, the rest of the video is dominated by the hired actor or Jessie J's other counter parts.
