Conventions of a music video

There are various conventions of a music video that are essential to have in your video if you would like top have a successful production. One of the main things that a music video needs is to be interesting, if this is not the case then people will not take the time out to watch it because it will bore them, this is called viewer fatigue. There are various way that someone can reduce viewer fatigue, one way you can do this is by using interesting shots. Interesting shots will always keep the viewer intrigued because creativity is never boring.

Another way of reducing view fatigue is by the chopping and changing through shots frequently, this is done to keep the video fresh and new so the viewer doesn't get bored of one shot being on the screen for too long. It is also a good way of changing to another setting within the video because you chop and change shot often the transition from one setting to another will seem effortless and go un-noticed.

One other convention of a music video is the lip syncing, if the lip syncing is off then the whole video itself has been ruined. Lip syncing is done by the editing team, so the words of the artist performing the song goes along with the backing track and gives the impression th person on the screen is saying it. The backing track (MP3 of song) is also another convention of a music video, this is because without the backing track with all the instruments and vocals on it, the video would either be a freestyle, live performance  or not make muvch sense because you wouldn't be able to hear it.

Another convention of a music video is the artist and the performance the give of the song. This is what the video is based behind the artist is filmed in different locations and clothes ECT, and the footage that they have taken is put into a music video. Sometimes the performance of the artist can make or break the video because they have to have a good performance or else other factors will have to come into play to make up for the bad performance. Sometimes the artists can also use actors in their music video as well in order to make the video more interesting.
